Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, the reasons it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By using Page County Criminal History, you accept these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates it. That provider processes the query and supplies the result. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

We retain an email message as needed to answer it. The message stays within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the server may collect routine technical information about the visit:

  • Page-view timestamps
  • Your device's assigned IP address
  • Browser name and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages viewed and time spent on them
  • A referring website, when one is supplied

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files saved on a device. We use them with analytics services to measure traffic in aggregate, including popular pages and where visits end. A browser can block cookies, though doing so may change how some site functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Routing a query to the selected search partner
  • Maintaining reliable and efficient site operation
  • Diagnosing and correcting technical faults
  • Measuring which content visitors use
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

We do not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The content identifies how to seek Page County records from the sheriff, local courts, the Virginia State Police Central Criminal Records Exchange, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Nothing collected about a visitor is turned into a third-party record or consumer report, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Official criminal-history dissemination by the state repository is governed by Virginia Code § 19.2-389.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies govern submitted data, retention, and sharing. We do not control those practices, so review the applicable provider policy before entering a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to a sheriff, court portal, Virginia agency, legal-aid source, or outside search service. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.

Advertising providers may track activity across websites to select ads. That processing occurs through their systems.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal data. Information may be disclosed to:

  • A government body or law-enforcement agency acting under a valid legal order
  • Search partners that process submitted queries
  • Advertising networks that serve ads
  • Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance

How We Protect Your Data

Standard safeguards are used for collected data. No Internet system can be guaranteed secure, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

This service is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor supplied personal data, we will remove it.

Your Data Rights

Applicable privacy and consumer-protection laws may provide rights concerning personal data. Virginia FOIA, Virginia Code § 2.2-3700 et seq., governs access to records of public bodies and does not convert this private site into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Opt out of certain processing
  • Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
  • Request deletion of personal data
  • Ask for a copy of personal information we hold about you

Updates to This Policy

We may revise this policy. A revised version will appear here with its new effective date.
